Resolute Mining Ltd. said Aug. 28 that it kicked off the construction of the first-stage expansion of the Ravenswood gold mine in Queensland, Australia.
Stage-one expansion at the operation — which includes the recommissioning of the third grinding mill at the Nolans processing plant, boosting processing rate to 5 million tonnes per annum — targets production of about 80,000 ounces of gold using stockpiled material at an all-in sustaining cost of about A$1,600 per ounce in 2020.
The initial phase enables the processing of available stockpiled material and generate positive operating cashflows during the next expansion phases. Recommissioning of the third mill has started, with the mill expected to be operational by the end of the year.
In July 2018, an updated study on an expansion of Ravenswood extended the mine's life by three years to 2032 as compared to the original expansion study.
