Petrofac secures UK North Sea decommissioning contract

Petrofac Ltd. secured a well plugging and abandonment contract from Hess Corp. subsidiary Hess Ltd, according to an Aug. 27 news release from Petrofac.

Petrofac will also be the well operator and provide well engineering project management services for four wells in the Rubie and Renee fields 200 kilometers northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland. The wells will fully be abandoned.

The company will also be responsible for detailed planning, direct procurement and management of all subcontracted services, including providing a semisubmersible rig. Financial terms were not disclosed.
