Toyota Motor Corp. reported lower production and sales, both at home and abroad during June.
Total vehicle sales in Japan declined 12.9% year over year with 192,988 units sold in the month. Passenger car sales declined by 15.1% while trucks and buses slipped 1.3%.
Toyota's total production in Japan declined 6.7% to 354,248 units. Passenger car production fell by 8.2%, while trucks and buses increased by 2.4% for the month.
Production outside Japan decreased by 2.9% to 517,288 units despite gains by Daihatsu and Hino of 15.5% and 20.2% respectively.
Worldwide production dropped 4.5% to 871,536 units. Toyota production fell 5.2% and Daihatsu slipped 2.2%. Hino production increased by 15.1%.
Total exports declined by 2.2%. Passenger vehicle exports declined 3.5% while trucks and buses exports gained 6.9%.
For the first six months of the year, the carmaker's sales in Japan fell by 4.8% to about 1.2 million units. Sales outside of Japan were up by 3.6% to about 4 million units. Worldwide sales edged higher by 1.6% with approximately 5.2 million units sold during the period.
Helf-year production in Japan slightly increased by 0.04% to about 2.1 million units. Production outside Japan fell by 1.3% to approximately 3.1 million units. Worldwide production also slightly declined by 0.7% to about 5.2 million units.
Exports for the period rose 10.7% to 985,389 units.
