Sun Life fiscal Q3 profit falls YOY

Sun Life Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥43.19 per share, a decline of 24.6% from ¥57.26 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥280.0 million, a decline of 24.6% from ¥371.3 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 9.4% from 12.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue decreased on an annual basis to ¥2.97 billion from ¥3.09 billion, and total operating expenses totaled ¥2.56 billion, compared with ¥2.56 billion in the year-earlier period.

Reported net income declined 22.7% on an annual basis to ¥256.0 million, or ¥39.49 per share, from ¥331.0 million, or ¥51.06 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
