Arthur J. Gallagher buys Michigan-based broker

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. acquired Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle Inc. and Ann Arbor Business Advisors LLC.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle is a full-service broker that offers employee benefits, retirement planning, life insurance and human resource consulting, along with commercial and personal property and casualty coverage, to clients mainly across Michigan and in California, specializing in multistate groups. Ann Arbor Business Advisors provides retirement plan services for institutional clients.

Laurie Riegle, Charles Kennedy and their associates will continue to operate in Ann Arbor under the direction of John Neumaier, head of Arthur J. Gallagher's Great Lakes employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations, and Cindy LaMantia, head of the company's Great Lakes retail P&C brokerage operations.
