Senior executives at Alphabet Inc. and Saudi Arabian Oil Co. have been in talks to jointly set up a technology hub in Saudi Arabia, The Wall Street Journal reported Feb. 1, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
Alphabet will reportedly help Saudi Arabian Oil, known as Aramco, build data centers around Saudi Arabia as part of the potential joint venture, sources said, adding that the talks have been going on for months.
Amazon.com Inc., meanwhile, is nearing a $1 billion deal to build three data centers in the kingdom, people familiar with the matter said. The deal is expected to be announced during a trip to the U.S. by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman early this year.
