A fire that broke out at AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group NV's Mibra tantalum mine in Brazil on Jan. 19 will not have any material financial impact to the company and its lithium output, the company said Jan. 27.
Meanwhile, a process is underway to determine the period of the production interruption.
The fire occurred at the gravimetric concentration section in one of AMG's two tantalum production lines. The company's other tantalum production line, as well as crushing and grinding circuits and magnetic separation equipment, remain fully operational.
There were no injuries to any employees or contractors as a result of the incident.
AMG noted that it is insured for both the damage sustained to the concentrator and losses attributable to the company as a result of a production interruption.
Additionally, construction of AMG's new lithium concentration plant at the Mibra mine site remains unaffected by the fire.
