Teranga Gold Corp. said Sept. 4 that it has achieved first gold pour in the Wahgnion gold operations in Burkina Faso, which started processing ore in August, two months ahead of the target date.
The company's first gold pour from the project totaled 1,743 ounces of gold, while production amounted to 3,720 ounces of gold.
The Wahgnion project, which has a 13-year mine life, processed 117,712 tonnes of low-grade ore, with average grade of 1.04 g/t and an average recovery rate of 94.7%.
The project is expected to produce 30,000 to 40,000 ounces of gold this year, with average annual gold production estimated at 132,000 ounces for 2020 to 2024.
In September 2018, the company said that it is expecting initial gold pour from the project in December 2019.
