The banking systems of Luxembourg and Sweden had the highest aggregate fully loaded common equity Tier 1 ratios among European countries at the end of the second quarter of 2017, while those of Bulgaria and Romania had the highest leverage ratios, according to the European Banking Authority's latest transparency exercise.
In contrast, the banking systems of Spain, Italy and Portugal had the lowest aggregate CET1 ratios, while the banking systems of Belgium, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden had the lowest leverage ratios.
