Mercialys updates on corporate social responsibility strategy

French real estate company Mercialys reported "significant" progress in a number of areas for its Mery'21 corporate social responsibility strategy.

The company's shopping centers reduced water consumption levels by 6% and energy consumption by 5% and increased their waste recovery rate by 13% in 2017.

All new leases signed during the year included an environmental schedule with planned actions aimed at cutting stores' environmental impacts. The company is also piloting a program at two centers to increase collaboration with stores to cut their waste impact.

Mercialys received Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method In-Use certification for 21 of its shopping centers in 2017, making 46% of its portfolio value certified.
