Compañía Chilena de Fósforos SA said its first-quarter normalized net income amounted to 25.36 Chilean pesos per share, an increase of 28.4% from 19.74 pesos per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 1.56 billion pesos, a gain of 28.4% from 1.21 billion pesos in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 25.1% from 22.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 13.9% year over year to 6.22 billion pesos from 5.46 billion pesos, and total operating expenses grew 7.2% from the prior-year period to 5.01 billion pesos from 4.67 billion pesos.
Reported net income rose 21.3% on an annual basis to 2.25 billion pesos, or 36.51 pesos per share, from 1.85 billion pesos, or 30.11 pesos per share.
As of April 30, US$1 was equivalent to 611.50 Chilean pesos.
