Henkel AG & Co. KGaA on Feb. 6 said it started constructing a new production facility for aerospace materials in Spain in a bid to serve the growing demand for high-impact solutions in the aerospace industry.
The site in Montornès del Vallès, Spain, will include new buildings and equipment for additional production and warehouse capacities. Henkel will also provide engineering expertise to support the development, testing and optimization of composite applications it will produce.
The German company said the facility's proximity to several Airbus Group SE sites will make it Henkel's European hub for the aerospace industry, according to the release.
Henkel said it will showcase some of its products and service capacities for composite applications in aerospace at the JEC World 2018, an annual international composite show. The products include the company's newly developed Loctite potting compounds for honeycomb sandwich assemblies used in the aerospace industry.
