Brazil's central bank rejects Banestes chairman appointment

Banco Central do Brasil rejected the appointment of Paulo Roberto Ferreira, the finance secretary for the state of Espirito Santo, to be chairman of state-run Banestes SA - Banco do Estado do Espírito Santo.

In a Jan. 24 statement, the central bank said its decision was based on the lack of established conditions for the position.
