FERC grants Golden Pass' request to transfer LNG authorization

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved Golden Pass Products LLC and Golden Pass LNG Terminal's request to transfer Golden Pass Products' federal authorization to Golden Pass LNG.

FERC ruled Dec. 20 that transferring the authorization for the Texas LNG export project is in the public interest and said it will have no environmental impacts on the surrounding areas.

The Golden Pass companies made the request for FERC to alter the Natural Gas Act Section 3 authorization for the project in a Nov. 16 application. The companies also asked FERC to grant the request no later than the first half of December.

Golden Pass LNG owns and operates import facilities that would share boundaries and interconnect with the proposed export facilities near Sabine Pass, Texas. This is one of four major export projects by Golden Pass in the second wave of proposed U.S. LNG terminals that have received all major permits but no final investment decisions from their developers to move forward with construction.
