Ariake Japan fiscal Q1 profit falls YOY

Ariake Japan Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥26.10 per share, a decrease of 17.2% from ¥31.53 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥830.8 million, a decline of 17.2% from ¥1.00 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 9.3% from 12.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 6.8% year over year to ¥8.90 billion from ¥8.33 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 9.6% on an annual basis to ¥7.71 billion from ¥7.04 billion.

Reported net income decreased 25.2% from the prior-year period to ¥750.0 million, or ¥23.57 per share, from ¥1.00 billion, or ¥31.51 per share.

As of Aug. 8, US$1 was equivalent to ¥101.85.
