Natura Cosméticos profit misses consensus by 51.9% in Q2

Natura Cosméticos S.A. said its normalized net income for the second quarter was 15 Brazilian centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 30 centavos per share.

EPS fell 41.7% year over year from 25 centavos.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 62.8 million reais, a decrease of 41.8% from 107.9 million reais in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 3.1% from 5.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 5.0% on an annual basis to 2.03 billion reais from 1.93 billion reais, and total operating expenses grew 7.4% from the prior-year period to 1.75 billion reais from 1.62 billion reais.

Reported net income fell 22.1% from the prior-year period to 91.0 million reais, or 21 centavos per share, from 116.7 million reais, or 27 centavos per share.

As of July 28, US$1 was equivalent to 3.27 reais.
