Italy's seasonally adjusted trade surplus narrowed to €3.68 billion in August, from a revised €4.3 billion surplus in July, the Italian National Institute of Statistics reported.
On a monthly basis, exports were flat while imports rose 1.8%. Exports to EU member states fell 0.4% while exports to non-EU countries rose 0.6%. Imports from EU nations climbed 3.5% and imports from non-EU countries fell 0.6%.
Total exports fell 3.4% year over year in August on an unadjusted basis and imports dropped 4.1%.
