Vestas receives turbine order for 147-MW wind project in Brazil

Vestas Wind Systems A/S secured a turbine order from EDF Renewables Inc. for its 147-MW Folha Larga wind project in the Bahia state of Brazil.

The order includes supply and commissioning of 35 V150-4.2 MW turbines, Vestas said in a May 28 news release.

Vestas said a portion of the EDF wind project was selected in Brazil's A-4 energy auction in April 2018, and again the A-6 auction held in August 2018. Projects selected in the government-run auctions must be in operation in either four or six years. Brazil is to conduct six more auctions through 2021.

"This project adds to the more than 1.5 GW we have already installed in the country and it once again showcases the strong fit of our locally produced V150-4.2 MW turbine to the Brazilian market," said Rogerio Zampronha, Vestas' managing director for Brazil and Southern Latin America.

The Danish company has received more than 950 MW of orders for the V150-4.2 MW turbine in Brazil since October 2018. The nacelles for the Folha Larga project will be manufactured at a Vestas facility in Ceará, Brazil.

EDF Renewables is a subsidiary of EDF Group.
