Barclays adds 2 high-profile names to board

Barclays PLC named Dawn Fitzpatrick and Mohamed el-Erian nonexecutive directors.

Fitzpatrick, who joined the board Sept. 25, is the chief investment officer of New York-based Soros Fund Management LLC. She formerly worked for UBS Group AG.

Meanwhile, el-Erian is currently the chief economic adviser of German insurer Allianz Group and was CEO and co-chief investment officer of unit Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC, or Pimco. He will join Barclays' board Jan. 1, 2020.

Barclays also scrapped its reputation committee and transferred its responsibilities to the main board and the risk committee.

The new appointments come amid activist investor Edward Bramson's campaign for the restructuring of the group's investment banking operations. Bramson failed in May to win a seat in the board.
