China releases tariff exemption list

China disclosed a number of U.S. products that would be exempt from additional Chinese tariffs imposed last year, ahead of the next round of face-to-face discussions in October.

China released two lists on Sept. 11 covering 16 product types, including whey and fish meal and lubricants. Retaliatory tariffs will not be applicable to those U.S. products between Sept. 17, 2019, and Sept. 16, 2020.

The Chinese government said it will release additional exclusion lists, if needed.

The two largest economies in the world increased tariffs on each other's goods on Sept. 1, with plans for further tariff hikes in the future, unless the two camps are able to reach a deal.
