Danone aims to regain trust of Moroccan consumers

French packaged foods producer Danone said Sept. 5 that it is taking necessary steps to regain the trust of customers as it faces an extensive consumer boycott in Morocco, Reuters reported.

In the wake of a consumer boycott over prices that started in July, Emmanuel Faber, Danone's CEO, announced a price cut on fresh pasteurized milk packages and the launch of a cheaper half-skimmed milk in a pouch, the report added, citing a Danone statement.

According to the Reuters report, the company also committed to provide information to consumers about the collection, distribution and quality of the milk.

Danone said in July its dairy sales in the country were down 40% in the second quarter due to the consumer boycott.
