Lucapa Diamond Co. Ltd. fetched US$1.7 million from the second sale this year of alluvial diamonds from the Lulo project in Angola, it said March 5.
The company sold 2,072 carats at an average price per carat of US$804, bringing the sales for the current year to US$10.8 million at an average price per carat of US$1,731. The largest diamond in the sale parcel weighed 44 carats.
Meanwhile, Lucapa noted that it recovered special gems weighing 85 carats and 52 carats from Lulo.
Endiama EP owns a 32% stake and Rosas & Petalas SA owns a 28% interest in the Lulo project, with Lucapa holding the remaining 40%.
