Tarena International profit misses consensus by 30.9% in Q3

Tarena International Inc. said its normalized net income for the third quarter came to 95 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.38 per share.

EPS climbed 25.8% year over year from 76 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $56.0 million, a gain of 26.2% from $44.4 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 14.6% from 17.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 53.5% year over year to $379.5 million from $247.2 million, and total operating expenses climbed 52.8% year over year to $285.6 million from $187.0 million.

Reported net income increased 38.5% on an annual basis to $89.7 million, or $1.53 per share, from $64.8 million, or $1.10 per share.
