Mitsubishi UFJ Financial, units make management, board changes

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. and units Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings Co. Ltd. and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co. Ltd. made changes to their board and management.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial nominated Hirofumi Nomoto, Mariko Fujii and Kaoru Kato outside directors. Fujii is a former ambassador of Japan to Latvia. Kato is a corporate adviser at NTT Docomo Inc. and Nomoto is chairman and representative director of Tokyu Corp.

Hironori Kamezawa was also appointed to the board. Kamezawa is group COO of the company. He will assume the role of deputy president as of April 1.

The director appointees will be considered at the annual general meeting in June.

The company also has three directors retiring at the close of the annual general meeting. They are Hiroshi Kawakami and Yuko Kawamoto who are outside directors and Kiyoshi Sono, a member of the board. Sono will stay as group deputy CAO and managing corporate executive.

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial named several new executives. Takayoshi Futae was appointed senior managing corporate executive group head of the global commercial banking business group. Futae, a regional executive for Asia, will take over from retiring Eiichi Yoshikawa.

Masamichi Yasuda was appointed senior managing corporate executive group head of the global market business group. Yasuda will take over the role from Shigeru Asai, who is retiring.

Sunao Yokokawa was appointed senior managing corporate executive group head of the asset management and investor services business group. Yasuda is currently senior managing corporate executive, while Yokokawa is managing corporate executive and group head of asset management and investor services business group.

Mitsubishi UFJ Securities said Yasuda was also appointed co-general managing officer of the global business strategy division and global head of sales and trading. He will take over from Asai, who is retiring from the post.

Futae was also appointed general managing officer of the international corporate division. He will take over from Yoshikawa, who is retiring as general managing officer of the international corporate division. Yoshitake Manabe, meanwhile, is also retiring as general manager of the global business strategy division.

Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley appointed Yasuda a member of the board, deputy president and CEO of sales of trading, head of global markets business unit and supervisory executive of research division. He will take over from Asai, who is leaving the post.

The executive changes will take effect April 1.
