Statkraft AS announced the completion of a hybrid project featuring a 23-MW onshore wind farm with an 11-MW battery storage system in County Kerry, Ireland.
The project, on the border of counties Limerick and Kerry, at Kilathmoy, is expected to reach full operation by early 2020, according to a company news release.
The company said the storage facility is the first battery project in the country. The onshore wind farm is composed of seven turbines and cost €30 million to develop.
Statkraft will sign a supply contract with EirGrid PLC, a state-owned electric power transmission operator.
