SocGen CIB names global heads for public sector, financial sponsors coverage

Société Générale SA's investment banking unit said March 5 that it appointed heads of the teams responsible for its global coverage for financial institutions.

Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking named Yves Jacob global head of coverage for public-sector entities within the financial institutions group.

Jacob and his team will be responsible for developing strategic dialogue with governments, central banks, sovereign funds, development banks and supranational entities, according to the March 5 statement.

In addition, SocGen CIB appointed Laurent Morel global head of financial sponsor coverage within the financial institutions group, effective April 1. He will work closely with Scott Phillips, who will become chairman of the team while maintaining responsibility for overseeing his portfolio of clients in the U.S.

Based in Paris, Jacob and Morel will report to Jose Enrique Concejo, global head of the financial institutions group.

Jacob, who joined SocGen CIB in 2000, previously served as senior banker in charge of global coverage for international financial institutions.

Morel has been head of debt capital markets and advisory for Asia-Pacific at SocGen CIB Hong Kong since 2015. He joined Société Générale in 1994.
