Johnan Academic Preparatory Institute fiscal Q2 profit climbs YOY

Johnan Academic Preparatory Institute Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 came to ¥42.37 per share, an increase from ¥41.58 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥341.3 million, a gain from ¥334.9 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 16.1% from 16.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 7.0% year over year to ¥2.12 billion from ¥1.98 billion, and total operating expenses increased 8.7% from the prior-year period to ¥1.59 billion from ¥1.46 billion.

Reported net income increased on an annual basis to ¥480.0 million, or ¥59.60 per share, from ¥460.0 million, or ¥57.12 per share.

As of Nov. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.78.
