Red Hat Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 30, 2015, came to 23 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 46 cents per share.
EPS climbed year over year from 22 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $43.6 million, an increase from $42.2 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin fell to 7.9% from 9.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 14.8% year over year to $523.6 million from $455.9 million, and total operating expenses grew 16.0% on an annual basis to $450.9 million from $388.7 million.
Reported net income declined from the prior-year period to $46.5 million, or 25 cents per share, from $48.8 million, or 26 cents per share.
