German retail sales slip in January

Germany's retail sales declined 0.7% in January 2018 from the previous month in real terms, falling short of Econoday's consensus estimate of a 0.8% increase.

Retail turnover decreased 0.6% from the previous month in nominal terms, according to provisional data from the country's Federal Statistics Office.

Retail sales increased 2.3% in real terms and by 3.7% in nominal terms from a year earlier.
