Incitec Pivot Ltd. said Sept. 2 that its Dyno Nobel Ltd. unit will invest A$25 million over the next five years towards the development of a blast technology that will directly benefit BHP Group's Australian operations.
The research and development collaboration between Dyno Nobel and BHP aims to develop a blast technology that will improve the safety and productivity at the mining giant's operations.
Further, the alliance aims to use environmentally-friendly measures, including the elimination of the use of palm oil in the explosives manufacturing process.
The agreement was part of the contract renewals for the supply of explosives products and services to BHP's open cut operations across its BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance Pty Ltd., BHP Billiton Iron Ore Pty Ltd. and BHP Billiton Nickel West Pty Ltd. units.
