Kinder Morgan unit places line to Cheniere's Sabine Pass into partial service

A Kinder Morgan Inc. pipeline unit placed into partial service a new natural gas line feeding Cheniere Energy Inc.'s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Louisiana.

Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline LLC in a Nov. 6 letter let the Federal Energy Regulation Commission know that its Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC lateral and connection to the Sabine Pass terminal were available for service Nov. 1. Once in full service, the facilities will provide 600,000 Dth/d of firm gas transportation service to the Louisiana terminal, which has a fifth liquefaction train expected to begin production by the end of the year.

The entire $151 million Sabine Pass Liquefaction lateral project also includes modifications to delivery meter stations to allow bidirectional flow, a new compressor station, two header pipelines and abandonment of some meter facilities.

FERC gave the Kinder Morgan pipeline unit authorization to commence partial service on the project in an Aug. 31 letter. The company also previously said it aims to provide full transportation capacity on the facilities by Dec. 1. The commission gave Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline permission to build and operate the facilities in November 2017. (FERC docket CP17-22)
