CoreSite Realty Corp. bought a two-acre land parcel in downtown Chicago, where it plans to develop an enterprise-class data center with a projected cost of up to $210 million at full build-out.
The data center real estate investment trust said the project is meant to meet strong customer demand in the area. It looks to break ground on the 175,000-square-foot CH2 project at the end of 2018 or the start of 2019, subject to the receipt of entitlements and permits.
CoreSite said the three-phase, four-story building will comprise 6 megawatts of capacity per phase and will be located 1 mile from its existing CH1 facility, with the two sites expected to be linked via high-count dark fiber.
