Toyota to offer ownership plans to Philippines' Grab drivers

The Philippines arm of automaker Toyota Motor Corp. said Oct. 17 it partnered with GrabTaxi Holdings Pte. Ltd. to offer car replacement and ownership packages to the ride-hailing and logistics services provider's existing drivers in the country.

Toyota Motor Philippines and its local affiliate, Toyota Financial Services Philippines, will allow eligible Grab drivers to avail of its trade-in offers, maintenance deals and financing plans, as well as discounts on batteries, air-conditioner cleaning and car detailing.

Toyota added that eligible drivers will be notified of the offers through their Grab mobile app.

The partnership is part of the Japanese carmaker's $1 billion investment in Grab to grow the Singapore-based company's range of services and to integrate Toyota's predictive maintenance and user-based insurance in Grab's operations.
