Pioneer Natural Resources Co. shut in production at its West Panhandle field in Texas after a fire dealt "extensive damage" to one of its compressor stations on March 6.
The shut-in is expected to result in a negative impact of about 2,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Pioneer's first-quarter 2018 production, while remaining within its guidance range of 304 Mboe/d to 314 Mboe/d for the quarter, according to a March 13 news release. Permian Basin production is also still estimated to be within the guidance range of 252 Mboe/d to 260 Mboe/d.
No injuries were reported and the fire was contained within the compressor station. The Dallas-based producer may restart a number of idle compressors in late March or early April to reinitiate production at about 80% to 90% of previous levels.
Pioneer's West Panhandle field has an average production of about 8 Mboe/d, composed of 20% oil, 55% NGLs and 25% gas.
