Florida Gas expansion project cleared for service

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission allowed Florida Gas Transmission Co. LLC to put into service a natural gas expansion project in Florida that will serve the utility Peoples Gas System.

In a June 1 authorization to commence service, commission staff OK'd Florida Gas' April 28 request to place the project into service. The expansion will allow Florida Gas to provide the utility with up to 75,000 MMBtu/d of firm service and up to 60,000 MMBtu/d of seasonal service, according to the project's March 30, 2016, certificate order.

The project included adding three miles of 30-inch-diameter loop pipeline, approximately 5.7 miles of 20-inch-diameter loop pipeline, a regulation station, a new compressor unit and other facilities in northern Florida. (FERC docket CP15-144)

Peoples Gas is a division of Tampa Electric Co.
