TikTok, a video app owned by Beijing ByteDance Technology Co. Ltd., opened an office near Facebook Inc.'s headquarters in Silicon Valley and poached employees from the social media company, CNBC.com reported, citing people with the knowledge of the matter.
TikTok recently moved into an office space in Mountain View, Calif. that was previously occupied by WhatsApp Inc. At around the same time, ByteDance and TikTok posted several job openings in the San Francisco Bay Area. TikTok has so far, hired more than two dozen Facebook employees since 2018, the report said.
TikTok also hired talents from tech companies such as Snap Inc., Hulu LLC, Apple Inc., YouTube LLC and Amazon.com Inc., a source said.
Meanwhile, TikTok said it will bring in an external group comprising former U.S. congressmen to review and advice on its content moderation policies, including on child safety, misinformation and hate speech, according to a separate Reuters report.
