China's Yunnan Tin cuts 2019 production by 10% due to tight material supply

Yunnan Tin Co. Ltd. said Sept. 5 its refined tin production for 2019 would likely be 10% below its undisclosed target, citing tight supply of raw materials.

The Chinese tin major added this is part of a joint action by tin producers in China. The company's smelting capacity is at 80,000 tonnes per year, according to its 2018 annual report.

A same-day Reuters report cited a company official as saying that Yunnan Tin would reduce about 7,000 tonnes of annual output and a group of domestic smelters would cut 20,200 tonnes in total.
