Panasonic Corp. teamed up with U.S.-based electric vehicles maker Tropos Motors for electric compact utility vehicles.
Panasonic, which exclusively provides electric batteries for Tesla Inc., said that the low-speed electric compact utility vehicles, or eCUVs, have a lower purchase cost and reduced cost of operation and maintenance than a typical electric vehicle.
"Panasonic is working together with Tropos Motors to address the needs of businesses that depend on small commercial vehicles with the right mix of technologies and electrification solutions that also add societal value by providing cleaner alternatives," said Scott Morrison, Panasonic Automotive's director for advanced engineering.
Tropos Motors is a division of electronic vehicle technology developer Tropos Technologies. Tropos Motor's eCUV offerings include ABLE and ABLE XR.
"One of the things we at Tropos Technologies bring to Panasonic is our ability to take their technologies and put them into practical applications very efficiently in our Tropos Motors vehicle platforms," said Tropos Technologies CEO John Bautista.
