Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. is partnering with Silver Spring Networks for the deployment of an intelligent lighting system that can manage up to 250,000 LED street lights.
Through an attrition strategy, the OGE Energy Corp. subsidiary's lighting system will convert from incandescent to smart LED technology, according to a Jan. 31 company release. The lighting system will utilize IPv6 IoT platform and Streetlight.Vision control software.
"Silver Spring's connected street lights platform will help OG&E improve service, lower costs, and enhance public safety," Ken Grant, vice president of sales and marketing for OG&E, said.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has approved a new LED lighting tariff for the planned deployment.
