NRG unveils 25-MW fixed-price solar energy plan for large customers in Texas

NRG Energy Inc. unveiled a fixed-price renewable energy plan that will see Cypress Creek Renewables LLC build 25 MW of solar projects in Texas to help meet the energy needs of NRG's commercial and industrial customers in the state.

The plan calls on Cypress Creek to develop, own and operate the projects that will supply power to NRG and its customers under power purchase agreements, according to a June 12 news release.

Interested customers will have options to procure up to 100% of their electricity needs from a renewable resource, with variable term lengths and naming rights to the designated facility.

The plan comes on the heels of a 10-year agreement between NRG Energy and Sysco Corp. for the development of three solar garden sites totaling 25 MW in the Houston and Dallas areas. Sysco is a global foodservice distribution company.

Cypress Creek is a solar energy provider with a portfolio of more than 7,000 MW of solar projects in development across the United States.
