US government posts $138.55B budget deficit in November

The U.S. government posted a $138.55 billion budget shortfall in November, higher than the $63.21 billion deficit in October and the $136.67 billion budget gap a year ago, the Department of the Treasury reported.

In November, government outlays totaled $346.92 billion, against $208.37 billion in total receipts.

Outlays and receipts for the fiscal year-to-date were $645.48 billion and $443.72 billion, respectively, for a deficit of $201.76 billion.

In fiscal year 2017, the U.S. government's budget deficit was $665.71 billion.
