Elad Roisman, chief counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, is the front-runner to succeed Michael Piwowar as an SEC commissioner, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Roisman, if nominated and confirmed, would join other ex-staffers of the committee who are currently on the five-member commission, including Piwowar, Kara Stein and Hester Peirce, according to the news outlet. Piwowar is anticipated to leave the SEC by July.
Stein may also leave the SEC in the coming months. Her term expired in 2017, though she is able to stay on the commission until the end of the year.
