Progressive elects chairperson

Progressive Corp.'s board has elected Lawton Fitt as chairperson.

Fitt succeeds Glenn Renwick who has retired from the board.

Fitt joined Progressive's board in 2009, and has served as lead independent director for the past two years. She is a retired partner and managing director with Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Another board member, Bradley Sheares, retired. Shareholders elected two new members of the board, Pamela Craig and Kahina Van Dyke. Craig is a former CFO at Accenture and has served on boards of other large public companies. Van Dyke is the global director of financial services and payment partnerships at Facebook Inc.
