Walmart to expand car-buying service to 250 stores

Walmart Inc. will expand its auto-selling partnership with CarSaver to 250 Walmart stores in the U.S., according to a dedicated website called CarSaver at Walmart.

According to the website, the program connects Walmart customers with a network of certified dealers. Dealers can also apply to become certified and to attend a free webinar series through the website.

The expansion comes more than a year after reports suggest that the retail giant and the online automotive retail platform have tied up to sell cars in four pilot markets: Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and Oklahoma City. The move was reportedly in partnership with dealership groups, including AutoNation Inc.

In a Jan. 23, 2017, report by Automotive News, a pilot version of the program reportedly was conducted in Stuart, Fla., in April 2016.
