M/C Partners acquires 2 Canadian managed cloud services companies

Boston-based private equity firm TAC Partners Inc., which invests in the communications, information technology services and media sectors, acquired Carbon60 Networks Inc. and Gossamer Threads Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

The two Canadian managed cloud services companies will be combined and will operate under the Carbon60 Networks name. The combined company will be led by Carbon60 CEO John Witte, with Gossamer founder and CEO Alex Krohn serving as chief technology officer. Both executives will remain investors and board members.

TAC Partners, which does business as M/C Partners, is providing capital to aid in the companies' organic growth and strategic acquisitions while giving the selling shareholders liquidity.

Choate Hall & Stewart LLP and Norton Rose Fulbright LLP were the legal advisers for M/C Partners. Blaney McMurtry LLP was the legal adviser for Carbon60, while Ian Muirhead was the legal adviser for Gossamer.
