Millennium awards contract for Bartons underground mine development

Millennium Minerals Ltd. awarded a mining contract to GBF Underground Mining Co. for the development of the first underground mine at the Nullagine gold project in Western Australia.

The initial three-year contract will see the development of the Bartons underground mine at the project and will provide access to high-grade, free-milling mineralization located beneath the existing Bartons open pit.

The company recently posted a 22% increase in the underground resources at the Bartons deposit to 627,300 tonnes at 4.9 g/t of gold for 97,900 ounces of contained gold.

The contract includes the establishment of an underground portal for Bartons, all decline and level development, all ore driving and stope production, and two 100-meter exploration drill drives.

GBF will mobilize to the site later in the month, with underground mining set to commence at Bartons in March, according to a Feb. 19 release.
