Mizuho Financial Group Inc. made changes to its board and management team.
The company said March 30 that it nominated Takanori Nishiyama, Makoto Umemiya and Yasuyuki Shibata as directors and Izumi Kobayashi as an outside director.
Nishiyama, a managing executive officer, is set to become head of the company's compliance group. Umemiya, a managing executive officer, is set to become head of financial control and accounting group of the company. Shibata is executive officer and general manager of risk management department.
Meanwhile, Shusaku Tsuhara, Koji Fujiwara and Hideyuki Takahashi will retire as directors. Tsuhara and Fujiwara will step down, effective April 1, while Takahashi will retire in late June. Further, Mitsuo Ohashi will step down as an outside director in late June.
The nominations are subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Mizuho Financial also said it appointed Yasuyuki Shibata as managing executive officer and head of risk management of the group and unit Mizuho Bank Ltd., effective in late June. Shibata will replace Ryusuke Aya in the role.
In addition, Yasuhiko Hashimoto was appointed as executive officer, joint head of Europe, Middle East and Africa and general manager of Europe structured finance department for Mizuho Bank, effective March 9.
