Moody's assigns ratings to Dutch-Bangla Bank

Moody's assigned Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. long-term foreign- and local-currency deposit ratings of B1 and Ba3, respectively, with a stable outlook.

The rating agency said it assigned the Bangladesh-based bank long- and short issuer ratings of Ba3 and Not Prime, respectively. It also assigned the bank baseline credit assessment and adjusted baseline credit assessment of "b1."

The medium-sized bank's ratings incorporate a one-notch uplift to reflect Moody's assumption of moderate systemic support for the bank in case of stress. The ratings take into account the bank's strong funding franchise, good liquidity and strong profitability, as well as its weak capital and high concentration risk in its loan portfolio, the rating agency noted.

Dutch-Bangla Bank was originally set up as a joint venture between Bangladesh and the Netherlands. It held around a 3% share of system loans and deposits at the end of 2017.
