Alphabet Inc. unit Google LLC reached a settlement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission over a probe into YouTube LLC's alleged violations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, Politico reported Aug. 30, citing a source with knowledge of the matter.
While details of the settlement were not disclosed, the U.S. search giant is paying between $150 million and $200 million to settle the investigation, the source said.
The agency voted 3-2 to approve the settlement agreement.
The news comes as Google introduced a web version of its YouTube Kids app. Among other features, YouTube Kids will let parents select from three age categories to ensure kids are shown age-appropriate content.
