Siemens to supply turbines for 12-MW Va. offshore wind project

Ørsted A/S and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy announced the signing of a subcontract to supply two 6-MW wind turbines for the 12-MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, to be located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia.

Dominion Energy Inc. will own the project, while Ørsted will construct the facility. Siemens is expected to deliver the turbines by mid-2020, according to a Aug. 9 news release.

The project is the first offshore wind installation to be built in federal waters in the U.S.
